Turn off "Work Offline"
If you are unable to send or receive emails and your Outlook icon has a red 'X' through it, check that "Work Offline" has not accidentally been turned on.
Go to the "Send / Receive" tab, and uncheck the "Work Offline" box. It should not have a grey box around it.
